Say goodbye to late nights, holiday shifts, or weekend duties; however, you may occasionally need to assist with Saturday vaccination clinics or special community events. Key Responsibilities - Additional tasks may be assigned:
  • Conduct an average of 25-35 spay/neuter surgeries daily, with minimal complications, and perform other surgical procedures as necessary.
  • Carry out pre-operative assessments and determine each animal's health status and suitability for surgery.
  • Provide follow-up examinations as required.
  • Document details regarding animal health, treatments, medical histories, and controlled substances in accordance with federal, state, local, and other regulatory standards.
  • Foster effective relationships through positive interactions and communication with clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of veterinary protocols and procedures for the clinic.
  • Help organize and execute vaccination clinics.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Actively support the mission of the Central California SPCA.

Qualifications
  • Valid licensure to practice in California.
  • Ability to secure a DEA license.
  • Interest in efficient Spay/Neuter techniques - mentorship provided.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, including at least one year of surgical experience.
  • Commitment to high standards of veterinary medicine and adherence to the veterinary code of ethics.
  • Excellent communication skills with clients and adaptability to various environments.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Alignment with CCSPCA's vision, mission, core values, beliefs, and positions on animal welfare.
