Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, construct, and maintain virtual infrastructure across various data centers and remote locations, including:
    • Physical server assembly and configuration
    • Hypervisor setup and maintenance
    • Template and virtual server deployment
    • Storage management
    • Configuration of virtual switches and network interfaces
    • System hardening and secure configurations
  • Implement and maintain hybrid cloud architectures
  • Engage in cloud adoption and digital transformation initiatives
  • Collaborate with technology teams on intricate system designs
  • Work with security teams to ensure secure system configurations
  • Oversee backup and recovery solutions
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, design, and testing
  • Support and enhance data center facilities
  • Facilitate virtual desktop and application delivery solutions
  • Tackle complex technical challenges across multiple OSI model layers
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and work extended hours as needed
  • Travel may be required
  • Adhere to Northwestern Energy's Professional Knowledge Worker Competencies
  • Ensure all actions align with Northwestern Energy's values, mission, and strategic objectives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with relevant experience or a combination of education and experience
  • Proficient understanding of virtual server infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and networks
  • Familiarity with supporting systems and processes, including backup/recovery, OS patching, and monitoring
  • Knowledge of system hardening and security practices
  • Understanding of network and security architecture
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing responsibilities
  • Willingness to continuously learn and acquire new technical skills

  • Experience with multiple server operating systems
  • Experience in backup and recovery systems
  • Experience with virtual desktop and application delivery
  • Experience in designing and supporting hybrid cloud solutions
