Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Driver License Examiner. As a key member of our Department of Transportation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of Pennsylvania residents by conducting standardized examinations to evaluate the skill and competence of non-commercial driver license applicants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct on-road examinations to assess the skills and competence of non-commercial driver license applicants in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Evaluate physical conditions, driving qualifications, and vehicle mechanical conditions according to established guidelines.
  • Perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles, checking for safety features and applicant's knowledge of vehicle controls.
  • Review applications, registrations, and permits for any irregularities or fraud.
  • Administer CDL and non-CDL knowledge examinations to test applicants on motor vehicle code and traffic signs comprehension.
  • Assess practical demonstration of motor vehicle operation and adherence to road rules.
  • Conduct vision tests and strictly adhere to the Driver and Vehicle Services Customer Service Policy.
Requirements
  • One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or
  • Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Additional Information

This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application. All positions require no suspensions or revocations of a driver's license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment.

This position is subject to a Fingerprint and Name-Based Criminal History Check prior to employment.

Applicants must meet the PA residency requirement and be able to perform essential job functions.
