Position Overview

Job Summary: The In-Person Medicaid Eligibility Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting patients during their hospital stay by evaluating their eligibility for various assistance programs, including Medicaid.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the hospital's patient list to identify individuals without insurance coverage.
  • Conducting screenings and interviews with patients in emergency or hospital settings to ascertain potential eligibility for Medicaid and charity programs.
  • Engaging in a high level of physical activity, including walking and standing for a significant portion of the work shift.
  • Completing necessary applications for Medicaid benefits and other charitable assistance.
  • Fostering positive relationships with colleagues, hospital personnel, and patients.
  • Adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Achieving monthly production targets set by hospital management.
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding patient information.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in customer service is preferred.
  • Basic computer proficiency is required.
  • Ability to multitask and type at least 30 words per minute (typing assessment will be conducted).
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Consistent attendance and reliability are essential.
  • Successful completion of a drug screening and background check is mandatory.
  • Annual flu vaccinations, COVID-19 vaccinations, and TB testing are required.

  • One week of comprehensive classroom training covering HIPAA compliance, Revenue Group procedures, role-playing scenarios, and system operations.
