Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to join our team at CyberCoders. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing therapeutic programs for residents with memory impairments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor the quality and effectiveness of resident programming, including admission assessments and care plans.
  • Develop and implement group and one-on-one therapeutic programs.
  • Maintain the usage and application of standardized resident assessment screening tools.
  • Ensure the most effective use of programming staff time on a daily basis.
  • Coordinate services with other department heads through participation in QA, leadership, events, and committee meetings.
  • Coordinate with the Activities Director to maintain a harmonious working relationship and provide activities on the memory impaired unit.
  • Assist with the placement and supervision of activity volunteers in coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Identify needs for education and skill development within the department and provide for these needs within the departmental budget.
  • Provide in-service training for facility staff as needed to further understand the purposes of therapeutic individual and group activities for residents.
  • Provide direct recreational services to Birmingham Greens residents as appropriate.
  • Monitor the fulfillment of mandated state and federal documentation requirements with timeliness.
  • Complete documentation as required by Birmingham Greens' policies.
  • Assist and verify the completion of activity programming portion of the initial resident assessment and participate in interdisciplinary development of the resident care plan and activity progress notes.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures manuals to describe the philosophy of services, department organization, and detail procedures used to carry out therapeutic programming.
  • Periodically review and evaluate policies and procedures of the department and revise accordingly.
  • In consultation with Administration, prepare the annual budget for activity programming.
  • Ensure appropriate supplies and inventory are ordered and stocked to fulfill the needs of the overall department and resident programs.
  • Participate in the weekend manager on duty program.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
  • Must hold the Recreational Therapist certification.
  • 2+ years of experience working with memory impaired individuals preferred.
  • Current CPR certification or able to obtain certification within three months of employment.
