Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Department

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the Psychiatric Emergency Department at Yale New Haven Health. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual care for patients in the psychiatric emergency department. You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to achieve optimum outcomes and provide a safe and supportive environment for patients and their families.
Responsibilities- Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care.
- Develop, communicate, and document a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions to achieve desired outcomes.
- Implement and coordinate the plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, patient's response to care, and readiness for discharge.
- Plan for education after assessing the individual learning needs and readiness of the patient and family.
- Function as a preceptor to new staff.
- Demonstrate the ability to provide a safe environment for self and patients.
- Meet the Standards of Professional Behavior.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN Preferred. Proficient in use of computer software to include electronic patient records. Must have ability to use internet for literature searches regarding care for patients. Mental Health or ED experience preferred. Hospital and unit-based orientation provided. Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse license. BLS required. CPI within 6 months of hire required.
