Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Newscasts and Announcements: Provide accurate and timely news updates, weather forecasts, traffic conditions, sports scores, and other relevant information to our listeners.
  • Host On-Air Segments: Create and produce engaging content, including music, entertainment, politics, and other topics of interest to our audience.
  • Interview Guests: Conduct interviews with musical personalities, industry experts, and members of the listening audience.
  • Write and Edit Content: Write, review, and edit news copy, introductions, public service announcements, commercials, pre-recorded reports, contests, and other on-air content.
  • Participate in Promotional Events: Represent iHeartMedia at various events, including concerts, festivals, and other promotional activities.
  • Operate Control Board: Monitor and operate the control board for studios and remote programming, ensuring seamless transitions and high-quality audio.
  • Sell Advertising Space: May be responsible for selling advertising space to clients, utilizing strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Regulate Program Timing: Ensure accurate timing of programs, commercials, and other on-air content.
  • Monitor Technical Quality: Check studio equipment for proper functioning and notify Engineering of technical malfunctions affecting the quality of the broadcast.
  • Handle Emergency Inserts: Process emergency inserts, including news updates, breaking stories, and other critical information.
Requirements
  • Socially Informed and Perceptive: Stay up-to-date with local and national trends, and possess specialized knowledge of topics/events related to on-air discussions.
  • Pleasant and Charismatic Voice: Possess a well-controlled, pleasant, and charismatic voice, with excellent pronunciation.
  • Well-Rounded Communication Skills: Conduct engaging interviews and make others feel comfortable and open up on air.
  • Excellent Writing and Editing Skills: Write and edit news copy, introductions, and other on-air content with proficiency in grammar.
  • Proficient in Media Production and Broadcast Systems: Familiarity with media production and broadcast systems, including Microsoft Office and social networking.
  • Selling Skills: May require selling skills to clients and partners.
  • Language Proficiency: May require proficiency in other languages, such as Spanish.
  • Experience and Education: 1-2 years of experience as an announcer in a smaller market or college station environment, and a 4-year college degree in Communications or Broadcast Journalism.
