Position Overview:
The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Weston, Florida is responsible for conducting thorough pre-anesthetic assessments of patients, documenting pertinent information in medical records, and ordering necessary laboratory tests while collaborating closely with anesthesiologists.

The CRNA administers anesthesia in accordance with established standards set forth by professional organizations. This role requires maintaining a comprehensive understanding of anesthesia apparatus, adhering to medical protocols during the induction, maintenance, and management of anesthesia-related emergencies. Effective communication with medical staff, patients, and their families is essential.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts pre-anesthetic evaluations and documents findings accurately.
  • Develops an anesthetic care strategy based on current medical knowledge and explains procedures to patients, addressing any inquiries.
  • Records preoperative notes and maintains accurate anesthesia documentation while ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Administers anesthesia in compliance with AANA and FANA standards.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of anesthesia equipment and adheres to medical protocols during all phases of anesthesia.
  • Ensures a sterile environment and maintains an organized workspace.
  • Continuously monitors patients throughout the anesthesia process, documenting observations, identifying abnormal responses, and initiating corrective actions as needed.
  • Ensures safe recovery from anesthesia following established guidelines.
  • Transfers patients to the appropriate recovery area and provides a comprehensive report to the recovery team.
  • Recognizes and addresses expected or unusual patient responses in the postoperative phase.
  • Regularly assesses patient outcomes and maintains thorough documentation.
  • Engages in regular communication with colleagues and patients.
  • Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as defined by JCAHO.
  • Follows emergency protocols as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Nurse Anesthetist Program.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards.
  • Awareness of the physical and general characteristics of various age groups.

Certifications Required:
  • Active Florida Nurse Anesthetist License and CRNA certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Work Experience:
  • Minimum of one year of experience in Critical Care Nursing.

Physical Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Cleveland Clinic Florida policies and procedures is essential. Effective communication with medical staff and patients is required.
  • This position involves prolonged standing and a combination of light to heavy physical activity, including lifting patients.
  • Work is conducted in a well-lit, air-conditioned unit equipped with advanced medical monitoring systems, with a moderate risk of exposure to infectious materials.
