About the Role

Pet Food Express is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Manager to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for coaching customers through the ins-and-outs of pet parenthood and working closely with leadership to ensure every customer has an enjoyable, friendly, and informative shopping experience.

As a leader, you will be responsible for leading Sales Associates through the day-to-day of retail operations while creating a positive, inclusive environment for all employees. You will also be responsible for managing and overseeing all functions of the POS System, maintaining a customer-ready store environment, and upholding all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store.

Responsibilities
  • Engage with customers, answer questions about specific products, and provide tailored recommendations to help customers live their best possible lives with their pets.
  • Support the Store Manager in recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent to build bench for the store. Provide coaching and development to Store Associates with timely and specific feedback to create a culture of action and accountability.
  • Participate in and lead daily training and continuous educational programs to enhance your and your team's product knowledge and sales skills.
  • Stay up to date about new products and trends in the pet community, visual priorities and brand messaging, and share what you know with your store team.
  • Manage and oversee all functions of the POS System, maintain a customer-ready store environment, and uphold all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store.
Qualifications
  • A passion for pets and people
  • Experience leading teams in a supervisory role. Retail experience is preferred, pet industry experience is a plus
  • Eagerness to learn and lots of ambition. We're growing and looking for people who are excited to grow with us
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business; will require weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds while using the appropriate lifting techniques and following all safety rules.
  • Ability to climb and balance using a ladder and/or step stool.
  • Ability to continuously stand, walk, bend, stretch and engage in repetitive motions throughout shift.

The salary range for this position is expected to be $24.00 - $25.50 per hour. Pet Food Express determines starting salary based on many factors, including but not limited to, local market rate, the qualified pool of candidates, internal compensation practices, a candidate's actual skills and experience, and budget constraints.
