SGS is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Field Operations Technician I to join our team. As a Field Operations Technician I, you will be responsible for collecting samples, observing, and/or inspecting products or raw materials for laboratory analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects samples from various locations, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to the laboratory.
- Performs sample preparation, reduction, and division as required.
- Ensures all equipment and containers are organized and cleaned before and after use.
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School or equivalent required.
- No experience required, unless required by state law.
- A valid and current Driver's license may be required if the role requires driving a company vehicle.
- May be required to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Card) and/or 24-hour surface Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) certificate.
Working Conditions:
- Will work in a variety of environments, including outdoors and in laboratories.
- May be required to work in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and in high, precarious places.
- May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme temperatures.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to stand, move, and traverse frequently.
- Must be able to sit occasionally.
- Must be able to use hands constantly, reach with hands and arms frequently, and lift/carry/push or pull frequently (up to 50 lbs).
Education and Experience:
- High School or equivalent required.
- No experience required, unless required by state law.
Language Skills:
- Intermediate English required (Advanced preferred).
Mathematical Skills:
- Basic required (Intermediate preferred).
Reasoning Skills/Abilities:
- Intermediate level required, uses logical and practical approach to solve problems.
Computer Skills:
- MS Office (Word, Excel) - Intermediate user proficiency preferred.
Travel:
- Local day travel may be required; may be required to travel overnight occasionally.
Equipment:
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
- This role may use sample prep equipment that may include Jaw Crusher, Bowl & Disc Pulverizing Mills, Pressure Filters, Riffle Splitters, Compressed Air, Hammer Mill Crushers, Ovens, Balances, and basic sampling tools.
