Role Overview:

The Compounding Staff Pharmacist plays a crucial role in overseeing all compounding operations within the laboratory. This position is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in medication preparation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise all compounding staff, including pharmacy technicians, ensuring efficient and accurate compounding processes.
  • Conduct thorough checks throughout the compounding workflow, documenting all procedures and quality assurance measures.
  • Verify compounding records, formula accuracy, and finished products to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Assist in training and evaluating compounding personnel, fostering a supportive and knowledgeable team environment.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and calibration of compounding equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, particularly those related to hazardous materials.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, participating in audits and compliance projects.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Doctorate degree in Pharmacy with an active Pharmacist License in Arizona.
  • A minimum of 5 years of pharmacist experience, with at least 3 years in a compounding pharmacy setting.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Experience in non-sterile compounding and a solid foundation in pharmaceutical principles.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:

This role requires the ability to work with hazardous drugs and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated. Physical demands include standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
