Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Delta Health. As a Respiratory Therapist - Cardiopulmonary Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering quality respiratory care to patients from newborn to geriatric, including cardiopulmonary services in critical care areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver quality respiratory care to patients, ensuring patient and family needs are met, including patient/family education.
  • Provide open communication within the department, patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare providers.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Carry out patient care according to hospital policies and procedures, functioning within the limitations of job scope/governing body.
  • Document care/treatments administered and patient response.
  • Establish treatment priorities based on medical and assessed needs.
  • Recognize patient problems/complications and intervene appropriately.
  • Accountable for the safe administration of treatments.
  • Knowledge and reporting of effects and side effects of drugs used by Cardiopulmonary Department.
  • Accurate and timely charting on the MAR of drugs given.
  • Participate in the development of and adherence to written care standards for the department.
  • Plan and coordinate work flow to ensure a completion of assigned duties in a timely manner.
  • Identify need for patient/family teaching.
  • Daily assesses patient/family physical and psychosocial needs and communicates to appropriate care givers.
  • Communicates pertinent information regarding patients to supervisor, physicians, and other health professionals.
  • Reports significant changes in patient condition/response to treatment to supervisor/physician promptly.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of and appropriate clinical application of all Cardiopulmonary patient care equipment.
  • Regularly attends training in-services and continuing education opportunities to improve skills and knowledge.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for professional growth.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Must be Licensed by State of Colorado as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Registration or certification by the national board for respiratory care (NBRC) preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS through American Heart required upon hire.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification required upon hire.
  • PALS American Heart required within 60 days of hire date.
  • Minimum one year of recent acute care, emergency care, and intensive care experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pulmonary function and pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Experience with respiratory equipment.

This is a full-time position, working 36 hours per week, with shifts from 6PM-6:30AM, rotating holidays. The job site is located in Delta, Colorado.
