The Patient Access department presents an exciting opportunity for a full-time Patient Access Specialist (On-Site) to work in a dynamic environment.

The Patient Access Specialist (On-Site) is tasked with coordinating a variety of intricate responsibilities that support the front-end revenue cycle and clinic operations, significantly impacting the patient experience.

Acts as a functional expert for department colleagues and ensures team compliance with established policies and procedures.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Obtains, verifies, and inputs demographic, financial, and clinical information essential for the financial clearance of scheduled patient accounts.
Contacts patients' families or physicians' offices to gather missing insurance details.

Confirms insurance and verifies eligibility of patient coverage benefits, informing patients and referring physicians in cases of failed eligibility.

Collaborates with scheduling departments to identify additional patients.
Secures necessary authorizations, pre-certifications, and referrals.
Informs patients of their financial responsibilities prior to service dates and collects payments.
Maintains accurate records, files, and documentation in the system of record.
Serves as a primary resource for junior Patient Services staff.
Proposes innovative strategies to management for enhancing performance and productivity.

Utilizes critical thinking while addressing a range of technical issues from patients, physicians, and staff via phone, email, web messages, fax, or email.

Works autonomously and effectively manages stress due to a heavy workload and complex patient inquiries.

Acts as a role model, facilitator, and mentor in fostering a culture of compassion and care through building strong relationships among staff, patients, and families.

Projects a professional demeanor and creates a welcoming atmosphere.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Proficient in data entry and completing assignments accurately with attention to detail.
Effective communication skills in both oral and written forms.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Strong analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal skills with a commitment to service excellence.
Able to manage multiple tasks, software systems, and technologies simultaneously.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and staff.
Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
