Job Overview:
The Emergency Vehicle Operator is responsible for providing both scheduled and unscheduled medical transportation services, ensuring safe and timely delivery of passengers to their designated locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Respond to various facilities including hospitals and nursing homes to facilitate medical transportation.
- Ensure safe movement of passengers, utilizing wheelchairs or stretchers as necessary.
- Monitor passenger safety throughout the journey, adhering to all relevant guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain compliance with state laws regarding passenger monitoring and transportation.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a high level of personal integrity and accountability.
- Hold a valid license or certification from the appropriate state agencies.
- Be certified in CPR and First Aid by recognized organizations.
- Achieve certification as an Emergency Medical Technician within one year of employment.
- Maintain a clean driving record as verified by the company’s insurance provider.
- Complete a CEVO ambulance driver safety course successfully.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Exhibit professionalism and effective communication skills when interacting with passengers and other stakeholders.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination.
- Capability to lift and maneuver up to 150 pounds.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, and walking long distances.
- Capacity to remain on duty for extended periods.
Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Field Supervisor or Operations Manager, depending on operational needs.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure readiness of the vehicle and equipment at the start of each shift, including cleaning and maintenance.
- Conduct daily inspections of the base or station to maintain cleanliness and organization.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and medical control using appropriate communication devices.
- Familiarize oneself with local geography, including the locations of hospitals and public venues.
- Provide safe and effective transportation of passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the process.
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately for each transport.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of all company and passenger information in compliance with regulations.
Professional Standards:
Exemplify professionalism and leadership in all interactions, prioritizing passenger care and safety above all else.
Perform other duties as directed by management.
