We are seeking a dedicated professional to assist in the creation and upkeep of our quarterly rolling forecast, while also preparing comprehensive managerial reports to analyze company variances. This role involves managing and conducting in-depth financial research and complex analyses related to forecasts, accounting controls, policies, and initiatives for the designated area. The position requires oversight and coordination of intricate multi-department financial work-cycle initiatives, projects, and assignments.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborates in the formulation of strategic plans, annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and capital plans for the supported area, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. Responsible for maintaining the rolling forecast and adhering to reporting deadlines set by the Financial Planning team. Provides leadership with insights into significant changes to the rolling forecast both during and after its finalization. Identifies key discussion points and proposes options for next steps or adjustments.
- Ensures accurate recording of company expenses in the General Ledger and proper expensing within the correct periods. Conducts thorough reviews of monthly financial reports and delivers variance explanations to business owners on a monthly and year-to-date basis. Identifies opportunities for further investigation into variances and anomalies, assisting with division requests for additional analysis and coordinating corrective actions as necessary.
- Independently assesses all models, metrics, forecasting techniques, and business processes, recommending modifications for enhanced accuracy or efficiency. Analyzes and interprets trends and deviations from expectations, contributing insights for VP- and Executive-level briefings, communications, and visualizations that highlight issues and drive actionable responses. Regularly monitors metrics and KPIs to enhance financial and operational performance, providing interpretation and reporting for these metrics to the business.
- Engages in tactical and operational planning for company initiatives, projects, and alternative business decisions to support process or policy inquiries. Develops complex financial models on an ad hoc basis to analyze company objectives, providing management with key insights and interpretations for inclusion in communications with business partners.
- Fosters strong working relationships with those responsible for strategic planning and rolling forecasts within the company, including key leaders, serving as a financial resource to the organization and its leadership team. Offers guidance on special accounting procedures and coordinates the implementation of new processes or actions.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in accounting or finance
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Additional Skills
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, interacting with employees at various levels within the organization.
- Maintains a solid understanding of the company's financial policies and procedures, ensuring adherence by business partners and escalating issues as needed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Word. Familiarity with systems relevant to the supported area, including PeopleSoft financial modules, JD Edwards general ledger, Hyperion Planning, Ariba, and Tableau. Requires an intermediate understanding of relevant digital tools and systems, as well as their impact on work processes.
- Experience with modeling, analytical, and problem-solving techniques, applying business knowledge to support decision-making.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with competent data visualization abilities.
