Key Responsibilities:

The Senior Marketing Strategist is accountable for the formulation and implementation of marketing and communication strategies that bolster brand growth, attract new students, and support various initiatives for non-degree programs, including courses, certificates, and preparatory pathways.

This position involves cultivating deep insights into audience requirements, product-market alignment, competitive dynamics, and translating these insights into compelling messaging and actionable growth strategies. The role enhances the visibility and positive perception of the university among key demographics through effective media engagement, events, campaigns, content creation, and promotional activities.

The Senior Marketing Strategist serves as a crucial link between the Academy and the Marketing & Communications team, dedicating significant time to collaborating with both Academy leaders and Marketing team members, while also working closely with School Marketing leadership to expand pathways for degree programs in partnership with academic leadership.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Fostering trust-based relationships with Academy, school, and Marketing leaders to promote effective information sharing and collaborative strategy development.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert on all marketing initiatives and external factors affecting portfolio performance.
  • Representing Marketing in cross-functional meetings and reporting, including interactions with executive leadership.
  • Assisting in establishing performance benchmarks for readiness and certificate offerings, providing regular updates, forecasts, and insights to inform ongoing strategy adjustments.
  • Driving marketing initiatives specific to readiness and certificates, collaborating with various Marketing teams to translate strategies into actionable plans.
  • Planning and executing strategies to cultivate a positive reputation and secure publicity for activities, programs, and events related to the university's offerings.
  • Collaborating closely with internal and/or agency creative teams to ensure that creative requests are precise, timely, and aligned with brand standards.
  • Staying informed about internal and external factors that influence performance, including the evolving portfolio of academic offerings, industry partnerships, target demographics, market trends, and competitor actions.
  • Taking proactive measures to enhance the impact of current offerings while identifying opportunities for portfolio expansion and partnerships.
  • Working daily with senior executives and other leaders to set performance targets and budgets, develop supporting strategies, execute initiatives, and report on outcomes.
  • Understanding and communicating with cross-organizational partners regarding marketing expenditures and performance metrics.
  • Reviewing and reconciling monthly P&L expenditures against budget.
  • Performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Extensive experience in client or key stakeholder management.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with staff at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to build trust and influence across diverse teams is essential for success in this role.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the capacity to gather and interpret both structured and unstructured data to identify significant trends and opportunities.
  • Experience in developing models to forecast marketing performance based on historical data, spending patterns, and market conditions.
  • Proficiency in various marketing disciplines, including traditional and digital media, SEO, content marketing, and event marketing.
  • Demonstrated success in launching new products and/or services.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience in direct people leadership, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ability to motivate and influence others without direct authority.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field.
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant marketing experience.
  • At least five years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Five or more years of experience in product marketing.
  • Significant experience in client/stakeholder management.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a client-facing agency role.
  • Two years of experience in a SaaS or technology environment.
  • Industry experience in higher education or related fields.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
