DESCRIPTION:
As an EMT Instructor, you will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive educational programs in emergency medical services, specifically focusing on EMT Basic and Paramedic courses. Your role will involve collaboration with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Director and fellow health science educators.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Creating course syllabi and schedules.
- Conducting classes and practical labs.
- Designing assessment materials and evaluating student performance.
- Acting as a liaison with clinical training sites.
- Providing guidance to students on academic and practical performance.
- Engaging in departmental committees and contributing to curriculum development.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must possess a valid Washington state certification with the appropriate endorsement in Career and Technical Education (CTE) or demonstrate a commitment to obtain such certification based on relevant industry experience. Candidates should hold EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic Certification and have a minimum of three years of recent, full-time experience in emergency medical services. Teaching experience in EMS is preferred. Endorsement as a Senior EMT Instructor (SEI) or eligibility to achieve this status within one year of employment is required. Candidates must also meet Washington State vocational certification standards and demonstrate proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications. An AHA BLS Provider Instructor certification or the ability to obtain it within two months of hire is necessary. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with high school students are essential. This position may require extended periods of sitting or standing, and regular attendance and punctuality are critical.

BENEFITS:
Eligible employees working 630 hours or more annually will receive health insurance benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability plans through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Retirement benefits are managed through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Professional development reimbursement is available, offering up to $1000 per year for qualifying expenses. Paid leave includes 12 sick days and 3 personal leave days, with benefits prorated based on hire date and FTE.
IMMIGRATION REFORM AND CONTROL ACT REQUIREMENT:
New hires will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and provide proof of employment eligibility prior to starting work.
