We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Commonwealth Fusion Systems. As a key member of our SPARC In-Vessel Coils team, you will be responsible for developing design notes, technical specifications, and assembly procedures necessary to manufacture and install the in-vessel coils.
Key Responsibilities- Develop technical specifications, assembly procedures, and documentation for the fabrication and installation of the in-vessel coils.
- Produce refined design concepts for efficient manufacturing and timely delivery, with cost considerations in mind.
- Author, review, and approve design notes, technical specifications, and assembly procedures.
- Work closely with the design team and maintain regular contact with selected vendors to provide technical support.
- Enforce quality standards and secure documentation and processing of non-conformance reports.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of engineering design and analysis experience.
- Solid background in component design and performing FEA analysis.
- Experience with measurement systems, such as CMM, laser tracker, metrology, and scanning tools for dimensional verification of machined components.
- Advanced CAD skills in NX, including modeling and drawings, with understanding of GD&T and spatial tolerancing.
- Familiarity with CAM process/software and G code.
- Experience with welding processes and vacuum application.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and work in a facility with industrial hazards.
