Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Support Specialist, supporting the Northeast Regional Defense Technology Hub (NORDTECH) and its Microelectronics Commons initiative.

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the Technical Director's efforts around prototype project calls, hub-level proof-of-concept projects, and external proposal development.
  • Administering, monitoring, and supporting NORDTECH project teams with electronic design automation (EDA) software and cloud compute infrastructure.
  • Collaborating with the NORDTECH Advisory Committees and coordinating technical working groups, road mapping, and events.

This role requires up to 25% travel, primarily within New York State and the Northeast Region.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Science in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field, or a Master of Science in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the microelectronics industry.
  • Experience working with engineers, technicians, and support staff, as well as customers/end users.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people.

This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check, and may require annual background checks.

Preferred Requirements

PhD in physics, electrical engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience in the microelectronics industry, and experience with one or more of the following:

  • Hands-on processing in university-based nanofab facilities.
  • Electronic design automation, chip design, and/or device simulation.
  • Exposure to academia, government entities, and/or consortia.

Familiarity with the microelectronics technical areas supported by NORDTECH, including Quantum, AI Hardware, Secure Edge, and Commercial Leap Ahead (Power Electronics, Magnetics).

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $100,000-$120,000, as well as a range of benefits, including medical, vision, and dental insurance, flexible health spending and dependent care accounts, basic and optional life insurance, post-retirement health insurance, and an employer contribution of 7% of earnings to a basic retirement plan after meeting one year of service.

Optional employee-contributed retirement accounts are also available.

Location

This role is based in Albany, NY, with occasional travel required.
