Candidate Profile:

The Technical Systems Trainee will be expected to acquire and demonstrate the skills necessary to contribute effectively as a member of a technical team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install work area outlets for various setups, ensuring proper termination of CAT 5E and 6 jacks, and adhering to labeling standards.
  • Construct and set up equipment closets, including mounting backboards, cross connects, racks, and patch panels, while ensuring grounding for all equipment.
  • Conduct testing procedures, including continuity tests for horizontal and riser cables, and troubleshoot any issues.
  • Identify active voice or data circuits as needed.
  • Oversee crew performance, providing necessary training and coordinating timelines for project completion.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of all required documentation.
  • Adhere to quality and safety standards in all operations.
  • Communicate any project delays or issues to the Lead Technician promptly.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to manage project budgets effectively.
  • Engage in low voltage pathway installations and the pulling of various cabling types.
  • Perform termination, certification, and troubleshooting of cabling systems.
  • Install security and communication devices and low voltage control panels.
  • Assist in the configuration and startup of security systems.
  • Install door hardware and related components.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Self-motivated and professional, with a positive approach to work.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with physical capability to lift and move equipment.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel as required for project needs.

Educational and Technical Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Enrollment in a recognized special systems apprenticeship program is necessary.
  • Proficiency with required tools and the ability to interpret technical documents.
  • Knowledge of universal communications color codes is essential.

Work Environment:

This position is based in both an office and construction setting, with moderate noise levels. Physical demands include lifting, climbing, and working in various conditions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

Travel Requirements:

Travel may be necessary for project assignments. Reliable transportation and valid driver's license are mandatory.
