Job Summary

At Healthier Mississippi People (HMP), we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to individuals with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor patients' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any unusual behavior or physical ailments to nursing staff.
  • Administer or observe treatment and personal care, including feeding, bathing, and other hygienic measures.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, and supplies for procedures, providing manual assistance as required.
  • Escort or transport patients to various hospital locations as directed, using verbal or physical means to restrain violent or potentially violent patients when necessary.
  • Collect specimens and take and record measures of patient physical condition using devices such as thermometers and blood pressure gauges.
  • Demonstrate core standards of exceptional customer service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • No certifications, licenses, or registrations are required for this position.
Physical and Environmental Demands

This role requires frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions, including risk of radiation exposure, blood-borne pathogens, fumes, or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals. The position also involves frequent bending, lifting, and carrying over 100 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking.
