Job Summary

JEO is in search of a Municipal Engineer who is passionate about assisting cities with their engineering requirements. This role involves collaborating remotely with a diverse range of JEO's technical specialists in the municipal sector. The engineer will represent JEO with clients; therefore, flexible scheduling and the ability to engage with City Councils and community members is essential. High integrity and the capability to navigate sensitive discussions are crucial. This individual should take pleasure in serving the public as a consulting city engineer and focus on long-term, mutually beneficial solutions. While comprehensive expertise in municipal engineering is not mandatory, the ability to comprehend issues, act as an intermediary, and assist technical experts in their communication with clients is essential. The Municipal Engineer will collaborate closely with our team of skilled engineers, planners, and other professionals to deliver projects that meet or exceed client expectations. The ideal candidate will exhibit outstanding problem-solving abilities, project management skills, and a commitment to developing sustainable and resilient urban environments.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as the primary contact for civil engineering projects within municipal contexts, including roadway infrastructure, water supply and distribution, wastewater management, and stormwater systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards for all projects.
  • Maintain robust client relationships by providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations.
  • Develop and oversee project budgets, comprehend client needs, and coordinate with project managers to ensure work is delivered within scope, schedule, and budget constraints while exceeding client expectations.
  • Implement organizational strategies to manage multiple project activities, document communications, and coordinate across various departments.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including planners, surveyors, and architects to ensure project success.
  • Identify and resolve technical challenges that may arise during the project lifecycle.
  • Adopt a long-term perspective to address the future needs of communities.
Qualifications and Skills Preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (preferred)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
  • 7+ years of experience in civil engineering, planning, or public administration, with a focus on municipal projects (preferred)
  • Strong project management skills and experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
