CAPC Psych Intake Social Worker

As a member of the multidisciplinary child protection team at Children's National Hospital, the CAPC Psych Intake Social Worker plays a critical role in providing crisis counseling and psychoeducation to physically and sexually abused or neglected children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide crisis intervention and assessment services to children and families
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Conduct social histories and psychosocial assessments for the medical record
  • Triaging patient to correct services and communicating with outside agencies on behalf of the patient
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work (Required)
  • LCSW or LICSW licensure upon hire
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to relate to diverse patient populations and work in highly emotionally charged situations
Professional Development:
  • Participate in professional development and community education activities
  • Complete medical record documentation, statistical and other reports promptly and efficiently
Diagnostic Assessment:
  • Accepts and triages referrals, provides crisis intervention, and conducts crisis assessments
  • Evaluates patient status, including assessing for suicidality/homicidality
  • Completes social histories and psychosocial assessments for the medical record
Multidisciplinary Interventions:
  • Intervenes directly with parents and/or caretakers providing case management and assessing parenting skills
  • Participates in the hospital on-call system, providing generic crisis intervention services
Organizational Accountabilities:
  • Anticipate and responds to customer needs; follows up until needs are met
  • Demonstrate collaborative and respectful behavior; partner with all team members to achieve goals
