Time-In-Grade Requirement:
Current Federal employees must have held a GS grade within the past year to meet time-in-grade requirements. For a GS-4 position, one year of service at the GS-3 grade level is necessary.
Specialized Experience:Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-03 in the typical progression for this occupation.
Specialized experience includes:
- Accurate handling and transportation of specimens to laboratories.
- Timely retrieval and delivery of blood and blood products.
- Assisting in emergency situations under the supervision of professional staff.
Completion of two years of study with at least 12 semester hours in relevant subjects, or a bachelor's degree with a focus on related fields.
OR Combination:An equivalent combination of education and specialized experience that meets the total qualification requirements for this grade level.
Competencies:Candidates will be evaluated on competencies such as Attention to Detail, Critical Thinking, Customer Service, Emergency Care, Infection Control, and Problem Solving.
Physical Requirements:The role is primarily sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, and light lifting required. Responsibilities:
The Healthcare Technician is an integral member of the Ambulatory Care team, providing essential support to registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting with patient transport within the Ambulatory Care Center.
- Addressing basic patient inquiries and concerns, directing complex issues to appropriate staff.
- Maintaining infection control protocols when handling specimens and equipment.
- Reporting any skin conditions or abnormalities to the relevant departments.
- Ensuring adequate supplies are available in patient care areas.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and staying updated on best practices in patient care.
Full-Time, Monday to Friday, with specific working hours outlined by the department.
