Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse to join our team at UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center. As an ICU RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill patients in our state-of-the-art ICU unit.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care to critically ill patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Perform various medical procedures, such as inserting chest tubes, intubating patients, and managing arterial lines.
  • Participate in code blue and rapid response team activations, and provide emergency care as needed.
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
Requirements:
  • 1 year of experience as an ICU RN.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications, with NIH and TNCC preferred.
  • Ability to work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles, including Thanksgiving and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
  • 48-hour contracts preferred, with OT starting after 48 hours.
  • Ability to work every other weekend, with a minimum of 13 weekends per year.
Unit Information:
  • Our ICU unit is a 60-bed, community-based hospital with a mix of ICU, sub-acute, and floor status patients.
  • We have a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, with occasional floating to other inpatient units.
  • Our unit is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including CRRT, Edwards FloTrac, and Phillips monitors.
