About the Role

Pacific Rail Services is seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious individual to fill the position of Rail Yard Operations Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations at the Norfolk Southern Doremus, NJ auto facility, ensuring the highest level of operational performance and compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations at the rail yard, adhering to AAR and automotive manufacturing guidelines.
  • Provide administrative support to terminal staff, including delegating tasks, recruiting, and resolving problems.
  • Lead staff in resolving complex operations problems and maintain the performance of supervised employees.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, including railroad and auto manufacturers, and manage key performance metrics.
  • Work as a member of the automotive unloading team and adhere to company rules and policies.
Requirements
  • Preferred experience working in the automobile loading and unloading industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement procedural changes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to provide premium customer service.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing customer requests and requirements, seasonal variances in workload, and industry needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to pass federal background screening checks and obtain an e-RAILSAFE certification.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and meet physical demands of the job, including lifting 40 lbs. overhead and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment

Candidates must be able to work outdoors in all conditions, including hot temperatures, and be aware of the work hazards and take necessary precautions to ensure a safe work environment.
