Job Summary

Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations using cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information, and images.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform sonographic examinations to produce high-quality images for diagnostic purposes.
  • Use independent judgment to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, and medical history to communicate findings to physicians.
  • Assume responsibility for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of patients while they are in your care.
  • Assist in transferring patients from wheelchairs or stretchers to x-ray tables.
  • Perform frequent bending, lifting, and carrying, and transferring up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Operate ultrasound machines to patient units.
  • Push/pull ultrasound equipment up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Experience required in a hospital-based setting.
  • Must be continuing education required to maintain certification.
  • Must have current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification (ARDMS).
