Research Supervisor

The Research Supervisor provides leadership and management to a team of research associates, overseeing the conduct of study work and ensuring efficient utilization of staff. They communicate and collaborate with study directors, managers, and subject matter experts to plan and execute GLP/Non-GLP study protocols. The Research Supervisor actively monitors staff performance, ensuring high standards of technical competency, animal care, data quality, and regulatory compliance. They lead and contribute to the training and development of staff, promoting high levels of staff engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain facility resource management tools and capacity planners.
- Liaise with the In-Vivo Manager to provide resources necessary to support forecasted workloads.
- Review study protocols with the In-Vivo Manager and Study Director.
- Assess and remediate risk, closely supervising the planning and execution of key study events.
- Manage staff by planning and assigning tasks, setting clear expectations through daily huddles.
- Supervise staff, identifying and resolving variances to plan and performance issues.
- Manage staff attendance, approve timesheets, and authorize overtime.
- Promote high standards of procedural compliance, protocol adherence, and data quality.
- Manage and publish key performance indicators (KPIs), engaging with facility staff to drive improvements and optimize performance.
- Actively promote high standards of animal welfare.
- Monitor environmental conditions and controlled temperatures stores, managing documentation, reporting, and remediation of environmental excursions.
- Engage with customers, auditors, and regulatory bodies in the presentation of facilities, data, and staff capabilities.
- Assist in the selection and recruitment of operational staff.
- Manage and oversee staff training and development.
- Prepare and conduct performance reviews, assess competency, and maintain staff training records.
- Collaborate with the Director of In-Vivo Operations, In-Vivo Manager, and other key personnel to optimize operational processes, refine technical procedures, and enhance services offered to customers.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college preferred; or over three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- AALAS Certification preferred.
- Problem-solving, analysis, and collaboration skills.

- Adaptability, customer focus, communication, and active listening skills.
- Decision-making skills.
- Thoroughness and time management skills.
