Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage software projects throughout their lifecycle, from conceptualization to ongoing maintenance.
  • Lead software development efforts using existing methodologies (e.g., Agile), working closely with team members.
  • Communicate software dependencies effectively to team members to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Architect and lead the development, maintenance, and documentation of mobile, web, and/or desktop applications used for research and operations support.
  • Design, maintain, and document database schemas used by backend infrastructure.
  • Architect and build scalable, testable, and reusable code using best practices in software engineering.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and translate stakeholder needs into software requirements.
  • Work closely with User Experience Research Specialists to produce usable and desirable applications.
  • Generate technical documentation for long-term maintenance of developed software, and reports for non-technical people.
  • Document work processes to ensure redundancy and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Work with research team members to execute projects effectively and efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with software development in a professional setting (excluding schoolwork).
  • 5+ years of experience with full stack development for web or mobile.
  • 5+ years of experience with database schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • 5+ years of experience with software project management and software development methods (e.g., Agile).
  • 3+ years of experience leading software development projects.
  • Experience with desktop and/or mobile application development appreciated.
  • Requires extensive experience in software project management to understand dependencies, communicate timelines effectively, and assign software development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of object-oriented principles and software design patterns.
  • Proficiency in using version control software such as Git.
  • Knowledge of PHP, JavaScript, Python, and MS SQL Server preferred.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized and able to work autonomously.
