Job Description

Job Summary:

The Pediatric and Adolescent Registered Nurse will provide direct nursing care to children and/or adolescent patients as prescribed by the physician and is under the direction and supervision of the appropriate facility nursing leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts ongoing and individualized nursing care duties as assigned and as dictated by the patient's condition in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
  • Administers PRN medications and documents their effectiveness in the medical record.
  • Reports changes in patient physical, mental status, or episodes of seclusion or restraint to nurse manager or supervisor during each shift.
  • Ensures family and physician notification is completed and documented if a patient is transported to the Emergency Room, injured, falls, or is placed in Seclusion or Restraints.
  • Collaborates with other team members in the development, implementation, and evaluation of an individualized plan of care.
  • Performs treatments and therapies as ordered by physician in an appropriate and timely fashion.
  • Documents patient care, findings, and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility, and staff in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
