About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic - Engineering to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our Facilities Services team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital plant.

Key Responsibilities

Safely perform general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the hospital plant as directed. Perform minor plumbing, electrical or mechanical repairs as needed. Report to the Facility Services Supervisor and Director of Facility Services.

Requirements

* Demonstrates the skill in maintaining and repair of the physical plant. * Assists in operating and maintaining all equipment, such as boilers, chillers and air handlers. * Performs general maintenance work to ensure the correct operation of all building systems with only minor assistance from skilled engineers or management. * Non-violent crisis intervention/verbal de-escalation course within 3 months of hire. * Trade certification or degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. * Three years experience working with hand tools, painting, general plumbing, or any other healthcare related trade, preferred. Hospital Mandatory Education Requirements: Orientation, OSHA, EOC, Infection Control, Abuse/ Neglect, and Ethics. Tuberculosis Screening, MAB. * Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties * Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job * Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English * Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System * Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
