About the Role

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team. As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely perform general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout the hospital plant as directed.
  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical or mechanical repairs as needed.
  • Report to the Facility Services Supervisor and Director of Facility Services.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate the skill in maintaining and repair of the physical plant.
  • Assist in operating and maintaining all equipment, such as boilers, chillers and air handlers.
  • Perform general maintenance work to ensure the correct operation of all building systems with only minor assistance from skilled engineers or management.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention/verbal de-escalation course within 3 months of hire.
  • Trade certification or degree preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Three years experience working with hand tools, painting, general plumbing, or any other healthcare related trade, preferred.
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
