JOB ANNOUNCEMENT


The Utah County Assessor's office is tasked with the classification of all properties within the county; collaborating with the Recorder's office to associate ownership with properties; determining taxable values for all properties subject to taxation; and compiling this data into reports utilized by the Auditor's office for tax rate calculations and the Treasurer's office for collections.

Position: Appraiser III - Residential

Opportunity Overview:


Under the general supervision of the Appraisal Supervisor, this role involves appraising real estate for tax purposes utilizing industry-standard valuation methods.

This position also includes leading and mentoring other appraisers as a certified residential appraiser.

Compensation: Appraiser III - Residential - Grade 725 Step A: $ Step G: $36.96 Hourly

Appraiser II - Residential - Grade 723 Step A: $ Step G: $32.14 Hourly

Work Schedule: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Qualifications for Appraiser III - Residential:

  • Associate degree or higher.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a residential or commercial appraiser.
Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license required; must obtain a valid State of Utah driver's license within sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Selected candidates will undergo a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must hold designation as a Certified Residential or Certified General Appraiser with the Utah State Department of Commerce.
  • Those with a Certified Residential Appraiser designation must obtain General Ad Valorem Appraiser designation with the Utah State Tax Commission within twenty-four (24) months of employment.
Qualifications for Appraiser II - Residential:

  • Associate degree or higher.
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in real estate, construction, or property appraisal.
  • A bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to real estate, construction, or property appraisal.
Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license required; must obtain a valid State of Utah driver's license within sixty (60) days of employment.
  • Selected candidates will undergo a pre-employment drug screening and background check.
  • Must hold a Licensed Appraiser designation with the Utah State Department of Commerce.
  • Must obtain an Ad Valorem Appraiser designation (residential or general) with the Utah State Tax Commission within twenty-four (24) months of employment.
