Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant

Job Summary:

Otterbein SeniorLife is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our Home Health team. As a COTA, you will provide rehabilitative care and occupational therapy services to patients in their homes, assisting them in regaining independence and improving their quality of life.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct occupational therapy procedures in patients' homes, under the supervision of a qualified Occupational Therapist.
  • Assist in the evaluation process through observation and clinically derived surveys, focusing on areas such as perceptual motor skills, motor coordination, and sensory motor development and processing.
  • Develop and implement treatment programs aimed at improving patients' functional abilities.
  • Instruct and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities, such as ambulation, transferring, and gait training.
  • Teach basic principles of body mechanics to patients and families.
  • Provide education on the proper use of prosthetic devices and therapeutic appliances.
  • Monitor patients' progress and report findings to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
  • Modify treatment plans as authorized by physicians, with subsequent authorization, instruction, and supervision by the Occupational Therapist.
  • Prepare and submit clinical and progress notes in a timely manner, adhering to Otterbein Home Health policies, state, and federal guidelines, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an Occupational Therapy Assistant educational program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association, Inc. (AOTA) or its successor organizations.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, with community/home health experience preferred.
  • Current certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, insured in accordance with Ohio requirements.
  • Maintains current CPR certification.
