About the Role

At Sysco, we are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Operations Manager to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our logistics operations and drive business growth.

Job Summary

The Logistics Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily activities of our delivery staff, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and maintaining the safety and security of our delivery department.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Delivery Staff: Oversee the daily work and safety of our delivery associates, including adherence to standard operating procedures and providing safe and efficient customer service.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure our delivery associates comply with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies (e.g., DOT, OSHA) and maintain accurate electronic logs.
  • Labor Management: Manage labor hours and consumable supplies within budget.
  • Scheduling: Prepare work schedules, including extra work days and shifts as needed.
  • Asset Management: Oversee the proper selection and utilization of company assets in support of the delivery department.
  • Repair Coordination: Organize required repairs with relevant departments as necessary.
  • Delivery Functions: Review delivery functions and productivity reporting.
  • Efficiency Initiatives: Suggest efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures, and assist with implementing delivery changes.
  • Policies and Procedures: Interpret, train, and consistently enforce Company policies, protocols, and procedures, including food safety, DOT, record-keeping, etc.
  • Customer Communication: Communicate with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to resolve customer or delivery issues.
  • Customer Visits: Visit customer locations and meet with customers to address issues and assess delivery difficulties.
  • Associate Relations: Preserve associate relations through regular department meetings and open communication channels.

Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Experience: 1-3 years related experience and/or training.
  • Certifications: Complete a Sysco-approved defensive driving program; HazMat certification preferred; Valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting Company standards highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Lead individual and team discussions and meetings effectively.
    • Work collaboratively with peers and associates from other departments, operating companies, and Corporate proactively and constructively.
    • Solve practical problems and deal with various concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
    • Apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely, and objective manner.
    • Work in a disciplined manner and follow established procedures, practices, and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
    • Manage pressures and stress associated with deadline-oriented atmospheres and customer service issues.
    • Demonstrate skill in making independent decisions in support of Company policies and procedures on time.
    • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals effectively.
    • Present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public effectively.
    • Exhibit knowledge of spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs.
    • Must have excellent computer skills.
    • Able to read, comprehend, write, and speak English fluently.
    • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals accurately.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
