Job Title: Medical Records Assistant

Children's Clinics For Rehabilitative Services is seeking a Full-Time Medical Records Assistant to join our team.

Job Summary:

The Medical Records Assistant is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of patient records and ensuring they are complete, accurate, and adhere to Joint Commission, state, and federal standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect, coordinate, maintain, and release patient medical records as per facility established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the completeness and availability of all patient medical records as needed.
  • Maintain medical records functions, including pulling, copying, and filing, assembling, and retrieving patient records.
  • Ensure releases of information are HIPAA compliant.
  • Process confidential releases of information and record entries in a confidential manner.
  • Perform clerical work, including sorting, assembling, and scanning documents using an EMR/EHR system.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate with staff and providers.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications:
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
    • Experience: One year related experience and/or training required.
    • Licenses and Certificates: RHIT or RHIA certification preferred.
    • Bilingual English/Spanish is required.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      • Skill and familiarity with Practice Management Systems.
      • Skill and knowledge of maintaining an EHR system; NextGen knowledge preferred.
      • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient data according to HIPAA regulations.
      • Ability to assist clinical operations with all medical records processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may potentially be exposed to infectious organisms during routine and emergency situations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
