Position Overview:
As a Duty Drawback Specialist, you will oversee all facets of a client's drawback program. Your responsibilities will encompass collecting and analyzing essential import and export data, submitting precise and timely claims, serving as the primary contact between the client and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and ensuring the program's overall success and compliance with regulations. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze, format, and verify all data to ensure accurate and complete drawback claims and maintain associated documentation.
- Keep detailed and organized notes regarding any specific nuances related to the client's data, product identification codes, or claims management methodologies.
- Understand and meet the client's duty recovery expectations and service level agreements.
- Escalate any client, data, or claim issues to the Department Manager as necessary.
- Maintain a customer-focused approach by providing regular updates on claim submissions and addressing any data issues that may cause delays.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with CBP compliance and drawback regulations.
- Previous experience in international trade compliance or a Customs-related environment.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines.
- Licensed Customhouse Broker is preferred.
- Strong technical skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Access.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
- Excellent multitasking abilities and attention to detail.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
Performance Expectations:
Demonstrate a solid understanding of departmental processes within the first 90 days and acquire a basic knowledge of the drawback process within 180 days of employment. Maintain accuracy in all claims and documentation, ensuring timely responses to inquiries from clients and CBP. Exhibit professionalism in all interactions.
