Job Overview

At the City of Springfield, MA, we are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Specialist to operate city-owned heavy vehicles and perform minor maintenance tasks. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with equipment and taking pride in their work.

This position is responsible for operating various types of heavy vehicles, including street sweepers, rubbish trucks, and snow plow equipment, as well as performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes and lubrication. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of trade practices, materials, tools, and equipment, as well as excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate heavy vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.

Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of related experience is preferred.
  • A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) is necessary.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
