Job Description

The Gathering Place is a Brooklyn Drop-In Center serving 125 homeless men and women 18 years and older. As Director of Social Services, you will be responsible for understanding contract requirements, communicating with medical staff, and developing systems to ensure client medication compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand contract requirements and communicate with staff.
  • Liaison with medical staff and psychiatric providers.
  • Develop and implement medication compliance systems.
  • Communicate with peers in other CAMBA shelters.
  • Work with direct reporting staff to set performance targets.
  • Observe staff engaging with clients and/or supervisory staff.
  • Conduct internal file reviews and implement Quality Assurance measures.
  • Assist the Vice President in providing oversight.
  • Prepare reports and statistical information.
  • Assist in analyzing program and demographic client data.
  • Organize training opportunities for staff.
  • Confer with management staff regarding programmatic and personnel issues.
  • Ensure housing goals and performance outcomes are met.
  • Monitor and track clients' housing placements and Individual Service Plans.
  • Plan and organize program activities to maximize contract goals.
  • Develop program content to address residents' needs.
  • Troubleshoot client and staff program problems.
  • Develop crisis prevention and intervention strategies.
  • Provide assistance and follow-up in regards to critical incidents.
  • Liaison with community leaders and groups.
  • Ensure staff utilization of electronic database and conduct oversight.
  • Conduct and document one-on-one supervision of direct reporting staff.
  • Review and sign time sheets.
  • Prepare performance appraisals for direct reporting staff.
  • Attend staff/funder/outside agency meetings and case reviews.
  • Report to the Vice President any significant events or incidents.
  • Complete incident reports, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental communication and conduct regular staff/departmental meetings.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree and three years of applicable experience, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Compensation: $68,000 annually
