Job Summary

The Security Officer 2 provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, medical staff, and employees at Baylor Scott & White Healthcare. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, detecting potential safety hazards, and promoting good public and staff relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas to detect unauthorized persons or potential sources of crime.
  • Maintain general order of the local environment and intervene in disturbances in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Respond to various public service calls, including criminal offenses, civil process, and customer service requests.
  • Assist Police Officers as required to maintain order and assist with arrests when requested.
  • Respond to medical emergencies within the scope of the officer's training and expertise.
  • Maintain secure facilities by ensuring doors are locked as required and unlocking facilities upon receiving proper authorization.
  • Produce complete, accurate, and concise reports of criminal offenses, safety hazards, and general information.
  • Handle sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner, safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities.
  • Control the flow of traffic at designated points of interest and issue citations for parking violations.

  • Good interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to balance multiple demands and respond to time constraints.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • General computer skills, including data entry, information security, and email.
  • Stays current with applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact or govern the department and organization.
  • Successfully completes the Texas Commission on Private Security Academy Levels II and III within three months of hire date.
  • Attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 80% accuracy during firearms qualification and requalification.
