Diesel Mechanic - Fleet MaintenanceWe are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team and ensure the smooth operation of our fleet of vehicles. In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on a variety of diesel-powered equipment.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment to enhance safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness throughout their lifespan.
- Perform Annual Inspections (FAI/CVI) on all fleet vehicles, including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment, in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Carry out quality preventive maintenance inspections on all fleet vehicles, following established procedures.
- Complete maintenance repairs to ensure maximum safety and reliability on all fleet vehicles.
- Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups promptly and effectively.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on various vehicle systems to manufacturer standards.
- Document all work performed on work orders.
- Develop proficiency in Sysco computer programs.
- Conduct electrical meter testing effectively.
- Implement electrical and welding projects as necessary.
- High school diploma or GED
- Trade school or Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training
- 3 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair OR 2-year school and 1 year of experience
- Current and valid driver's license
- Annual Inspector Certification
- Brake Inspector Certification
- ASE certifications; Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks
- 609 HVAC Certification
- Proficiency in computer-based diagnostic software
- Knowledge of all vehicle systems and components
- Ability to conduct Preventive Maintenance Inspections and repair
- Skills in welding and cutting techniques
- Basic computer skills
- Familiarity with DOT (FMCSA) regulations
- Understanding of OSHA safety and environmental regulations
- Regularly sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 lbs
- Exposure to various environmental conditions and moving mechanical parts
- Non-traditional work hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Possible travel to other locations as needed
- Exposure to confined spaces and other work hazards
- Outdoor work may be required
