Position Overview:
The role involves delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients, validating medication orders, compounding, and dispensing medications in line with regulatory standards and hospital protocols. The pharmacist acts as a vital resource for healthcare professionals, including pharmacy students and residents, ensuring that patient care adheres to safety and efficacy standards. Supervision of pharmacy technicians and interns is also a key responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Guarantee the safety and suitability of medication therapies through thorough order verification, dispensing, medication reconciliation, chart reviews, patient counseling, lab monitoring, and necessary adjustments.
- Provide clinical consultations with evidence-based recommendations, promoting safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy through collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee the medication dispensing process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of pharmacotherapy to patients, including supervision of pharmacy support staff.
- Mentor pharmacy students and residents as applicable.
- Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety in all tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D or Bachelor of Pharmacy) from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- No prior experience necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Regular sitting, standing, walking, and repetitive movements.
- Visual acuity for close and distant tasks, including color differentiation.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to hear alarms and machinery.
- Frequent data entry and keyboard use.
- Occasional physical activities such as bending and lifting heavier objects.
Licensure:
Must hold a valid pharmacist license in the relevant state of practice.
Work Shift:
Not eligible for bi-weekly PTO accrual.
Weekly Hours:
35 hours
