Park Grounds Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced Park Grounds Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of our parks, grounds, and trails. This is a key position that plays a vital role in ensuring the health and beauty of our outdoor spaces.

As a Park Grounds Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing a team of grounds maintenance specialists and part-time employees. You will oversee the daily operations of the grounds department, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

You will also be responsible for developing and implementing maintenance schedules, managing budgets, and coordinating with other departments as needed. Additionally, you will be responsible for communicating with department staff, city officials, and the public to ensure that park operations run smoothly and efficiently.

• Oversee and manage the daily operations of the grounds department, including scheduling, assigning tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure the health and beauty of our parks, grounds, and trails.
• Manage budgets and coordinate with other departments as needed to ensure efficient use of resources.
• Communicate with department staff, city officials, and the public to ensure that park operations run smoothly and efficiently.
• Supervise and train grounds maintenance specialists and part-time employees to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
• Ensure that all park facilities, including playgrounds, parks, and trails, are maintained in a safe and clean condition.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with safety regulations and to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure that park operations are integrated with other city services, such as recreation, public works, and emergency services.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the department manager.

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as horticulture, landscape architecture, or environmental science.
• At least 5 years of experience in grounds maintenance or a related field, including supervisory experience.
• Valid Colorado driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift 100 lbs. and carry 50 lbs., climb and work from ladders, stand for long periods, walk on uneven ground, and sit for long periods.
• Ability to use or oversee various hand and power tools necessary for maintenance work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Ability to develop and monitor budgets.
• Understands budgets, financial reports, and statements.
