Job Summary:

The Diagnostic Sonographer performs diagnostic sonography procedures to provide high-quality images for medical diagnosis and treatment. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate sonographic equipment to capture high-quality images for diagnostic purposes
  • Communicate results of diagnostic examinations to patients and healthcare professionals
  • Review patient charts and medical history to prepare for examinations
  • Interview patients to explain procedures, answer questions, and obtain necessary information
  • Assist in scheduling patients for ultrasound studies and other medical procedures
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to perform examinations and provide medical care
  • Participate in the training and development of student sonographers
  • Charge examinations accurately and in a timely manner

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Sonography
  • At least 1 year of hospital or clinic experience in ultrasound
  • BLS Certified
  • Ability to obtain registry within 12 months of hire

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of GE equipment and PACS system
  • Ability to follow guidelines set forth by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and meet department needs

Physical Capabilities:

  • Frequent walking, standing, lifting, and transporting patients, equipment, and supplies
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Visual acuity to read equipment and patient imaging charts

Environmental/Working Conditions:

  • Inside environmental changes with constant temperature fluctuations
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens
