Surgical Care Specialist for Delaware Hospital

Job DescriptionSpecialty: Operating Room (OR)
Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift
Employment Type: Travel Nursing Assignment
As a Surgical Care Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. Your duties will include preoperative preparation, intraoperative nursing care, surgical assistance, patient advocacy, postoperative care, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess patients' medical histories and develop individualized preoperative care plans
- Verify surgical consent, review medications, and prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery
- Collaborate with the surgical team to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance
- Anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as required
- Maintain sterile technique and adhere to aseptic practices throughout the surgical process
- Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience
- Monitor patients' responses to surgical interventions and intervene promptly as needed
