UNC Health Care is in search of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead UNC Health Appalachian (UNCHA), the premier healthcare provider in the High Country of North Carolina. UNCHA encompasses three hospitals, 15 medical practices, a cancer center, a heart and vascular center, a rehabilitation center, and a healthcare foundation, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The affiliation with the Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS) aims to broaden local healthcare services and improve patient access to resources in the region. UNCHA remains under local governance, ensuring decisions are made by those who live and work in the community. The incoming CEO will guide UNCHA in its mission to create a regional healthcare system that promotes healthier individuals and an improved quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
The CEO will oversee all facets of UNC Health Appalachian, ensuring operational success to meet established goals and objectives, including excellence in clinical quality, patient safety, engagement, and financial performance. The CEO will participate in the senior leadership team, representing UNCHA in strategic decision-making and resource management.
Financial Leadership:
- Establish and communicate a clear vision for the organization, ensuring long-term success within the community.
- Provide strategic direction on policy development, operational plans, and financial objectives.
- Foster a culture of professionalism and teamwork among senior management.
- Maintain strong relationships with the healthcare community, public officials, and stakeholders.
- Monitor organizational performance against established objectives and implement strategies for improvement.
- Lead integration efforts with UNC Health and assess partnerships that align with the organization's mission.
- Utilize resources effectively to balance capacity, cost, and quality.
Leadership Development:
- Guide the workforce towards achieving the organization's vision and goals.
- Promote an inclusive workplace that encourages teamwork and conflict resolution.
- Enhance workforce engagement by instilling a commitment to excellence.
- Delegate responsibilities and hold team members accountable for results.
