Front-End Software Developer

TED is a non-profit organization that believes in the power of ideas to change the world. As a Front-End Software Developer on our Technology team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that showcase your skills and creativity.

We are looking for a talented individual to join our team of developers, designers, and product owners to take new features and products from conception to production. Your stack should include strong experience with Javascript/Typescript, with a focus on front-end development.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for learning new technologies and frameworks, with experience in mobile app development, progressive web apps, and offline-first architectures. You will be responsible for developing software with an emphasis on testing, performance, and code quality, as well as fostering growth and supporting other engineers through constructive code reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop software with an emphasis on testing, performance, and code quality
  • Foster growth and support other engineers through constructive code reviews
  • Clearly communicate technical constraints and opportunities with stakeholders
  • Other duties and special projects as may be assigned from time to time

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of overall professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of production Javascript/Typescript experience
  • 3+ years of production experience
  • Comfortable integrating with APIs and working with remote services
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, Vite, MySQL, Apollo server, and GraphQL a plus
  • Curious and knowledgeable about web technologies and frameworks
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about learning new tools and technologies
  • Strong ownership of work with the ability to drive projects from inception through completion, balancing doing it right and doing it fast
  • Able to refactor legacy projects in addition to greenfield development
  • Level-headed during time-sensitive troubleshooting
