At Amgen, our mission is to serve patients by pushing the boundaries of science and transforming medicine. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Obesity Development team and drive the development of innovative treatments for serious illnesses.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to join our team as the Vice President of Obesity Development, leading the late clinical development strategy, planning, and decision-making for pipeline products targeting weight management and diabetes, as well as other selected obesity-related conditions.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, scientific, and people leadership for the Obesity development pipeline and marketed products.
  • Oversee late clinical programs within the Obesity disease area, helping define the portfolio vision and strategy.
  • Serve as a senior advisor or executive sponsor for functional, cross-functional, and/or corporate initiatives.
  • Critically evaluate business development opportunities and provide clinical input into product/indication strategy.
  • Establish and nurture key strategic partnerships, including public-private and private-private partnerships.
  • Chair related Technical Review Committees for the disease area, driving cross-functional advice and providing approval for the scientific design of clinical trials.
  • Create and maintain highly motivated development teams through leadership, people management, and coaching.
  • Ensure effective performance management of direct reports through comprehensive goal setting, regular performance reviews, and direct and timely feedback.
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Five years of industry or academic research experience.
  • Eight years of direct managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation of resources.
  • Preferred qualifications include MD, PhD/PharmD, and/or accredited residency in a relevant sub-specialty, board certification, or equivalent.
