UPMC Passavant is a tertiary care center located north of Pittsburgh, offering world-class medical care at two convenient campuses in McCandless and Cranberry. Units Hiring Graduate Nurses- 3 Main Med/Surg Unit: A 60-bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Stroke Unit with a diverse patient population, including CVA/TIA, COPD, CHF, and kidney disease.
- 4 North Medical Progressive Care Unit: A progressive care unit with a medical and procedural cardiology focus, including arrhythmias, MI, hypertension, CHF, and patients who require cardiac and electrophysiology procedures.
- 4 South Surgical Progressive Care Unit: A fast-paced learning environment with lots of IV drips, cardiac drains, and pulmonary/critical ill patients, specializing in cardiac surgery, vascular surgery, and orthopedic surgery.
- 5 Pavilion Ortho: A 30-bed private unit focusing on both medical and surgical orthopedics and urology, recognized by the health plan as a Center of Excellence for Total Joint Replacement.
- 6 South Surgical Oncology Unit: A 24-bed surgical oncology unit that specializes in the pre and post-op phase of surgery, primarily caring for oncology patients with a diagnosis of colon or gynecological cancers.
- 6 Pavilion Med/Surg Oncology: A 30-bed private unit caring for oncology, cardio-thoracic surgery, post-op liver resection surgeries, and med/surg patients, including inpatient chemotherapy and trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE) patients.
- 6 Main Med/Surg Unit: A 34-bed Medical/Surgical Unit with a diverse patient population, including hospice care with unique models of care and telemetry monitoring.
- Rehab Unit: A 24-bed Post-Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation unit primarily caring for stroke and neurological impairments, with a rehab team collaboration with Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, SLP, and PM.
- Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit: A 16-bed unit specializing in cardiac and thoracic surgery, with a patient population also consisting of vascular surgery and medical cardiology patients.
- Medical/Surgical Intensive Care Unit: A 16-bed unit specializing in respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and renal failure, with a patient population also consisting of GI and neurosurgery cases.
- Emergency Department: A certified stroke ED with STEMI's/NSTEMI's, sepsis care leaders, and competency in age-related care.
- PACU: A pre-op, PACU, post-op, and acute interventional pain service unit, providing a wide array of surgical specialties and averaging 60-70 cases per day.

Our RNs work a rotating 12-hour schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage on the floor. GNs must be eligible for State Board Licensure and successfully pass the examination before beginning this role -OR- must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination with 6 months of hire.
Qualifications- BSN Preferred.
- Completion of UPMC Student Nurse Internship Program or student clinical transitions course at UPMC preferred.
- The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
- They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
- Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment and handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
- Critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
- Good clinical judgment.
- Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
- Current Pennsylvania licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse required prior to program start date OR must have a Temporary Practice Permit and commit to taking the NCLEX examination with (X) months of hire.
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- Act 34 Criminal Clearance.
- Basic Life Support.
