Job Summary

The National Audubon Society is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wildlife Conservation Crew Leader to join our team. As a key member of our conservation team, you will be responsible for supervising and training a team of high school students participating in our youth employment program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and mentor a team of high school students in conservation efforts, including habitat restoration and wildlife monitoring.
  • Develop and implement public outreach programs to engage the community in conservation efforts.
  • Collaborate with conservation scientists to monitor and steward critical shoreline habitat.
  • Track program metrics and provide regular reports to management.
  • Develop and implement educational programs for students, including lessons and pre/post tests.
  • Collect and enter data into online databases.
  • Coordinate monitoring efforts with other Audubon staff and partners.
  • Organize and lead volunteer events.
Requirements
  • Available from April 15th through August 23rd, 2024.
  • Responsible, mature, and able to serve as a mentor to students.
  • Coursework in biology, wildlife management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience supervising high school aged students preferred.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software required.
  • Weekend work will be required.
  • Knowledge of waterbirds and native/invasive plant species found in CT is desirable.
  • Knowledge of salt marsh systems is desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift/carry at least 30lbs.
  • Active Basic First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
